Seabery has successfully managed to be present as a sponsor in “The First Virtual Simulation Competition”, framed in the 10th “Arc Cup” International Welding Competition of the 2022 Belt and Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition.
Despite all the restrictions to travel to China even for business these days (flight cancellations, unexpected lockdowns, obstacles to enter cities, closed businesses, etc.), the competition took place at the Chengdu Vocational and Technical College of Industry and Trade, in Sichuan province. This event was organized by the China Welding Association, Beijing ARC and the BRICS Business Council among others.
Within the macro event
Seabery provided 10 Soldamatic welding simulators to the organization to develop the virtual welding competition, which took place between November 19 and 20, after offering training to the 120 contestants, coming from different companies and national institutes. Young professional welders showed tremendous interest in Seabery’s methodology for augmented reality welding training.
The installation of the equipment and the organization of the tests were directed by Álvaro Paños, Seabery’s current representative in China, in collaboration with the Committee of BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition and with the support of the rest of the Seabery team in Huelva.
Of all the sponsoring companies (more than ten), Seabery was the only foreign one, a clear sign of our commitment to modernize welding training based on augmented reality in China, a country eager to modernize and digitalize its TVET system.
Nearly 600 people participated in the closing ceremony
Wang Qinglin, first-level inspector of the International Cooperation Department of the China Association for Science and Technology, Li Liansheng, vice president and secretary-general of the China Welding Association and chairman of the Skills Development Working Group of the BRICS Business Council, and Liu Zhenying, Director of the Belt and Road Initiative and BRICS National Skills Development and Technology Innovation Training Center, and chairman of the Executive Committee of the BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition Organizing Committee, and other leaders of relevant units such as school party committee members attended the competition and delivered speeches. Nearly 600 people, including team leaders, contestants, business representatives and professionals from the news media, participated in the closing ceremony. During the closing ceremony, videos of the competitions held in other countries within this context of the Belt & Road and BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition could also be watched. Seabery had also the honor of participating in the awards ceremony and received a certificate of honor issued by the BRICS Business Council.
Learning welding processes trough the competition
The “Arc Cup” International Welding Competition has demonstrated a high level and high standard in the field of welding competitions. These types of competitions serve as valuable platforms for high-tech young talents and the cultivation of international welding talents. Indeed, this competition is not only a competition of operating skills, but also a feast of technical life exploration and practical experience, which will play a positive role in the improvement of world industry technology and the healthy development of manufacturing industries in various countries.
We can affirm that the competition has been a success and that participation in this event has been another definitive step to consolidate Seabery’s presence in China and continue contributing to the modernization of augmented reality welding training in the country.
