The Lab Manual: Fundamentals of Welding collects 83 exercises developed to help students demonstrate the practical application of welding theory, principles and the best welding practices
Welding is becoming a highly demanded trade, which increases the need to generate qualified professionals. As an initiative to address this situation, the American Welding Society (AWS) has partnered with Seabery to include its Laboratory Manual: Fundamentals of Welding in Soldamatic’s catalog of training content.
What is included in the Manual
The Laboratory Manual: Fundamentals of Welding collects 83 exercises developed by the American Welding Society (AWS) as part of a welding curriculum for high schools and technical colleges. The activities in this lab manual are part of the AWS SENSE (Schools Excelling through National Skills Education) program and are designed to help students demonstrate practical application of welding theory, principles and the best welding practices.
The Manual is available in Spanish in the Advanced version of Soldamatic. The practices are developed in the simulator using the different pieces of Augmented Reality welding specifically created to perform all the practices included in the Manual, which cover four arc welding processes: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW
How Soldamatic differs
Through Soldamatic e-Learning, students have access to the practices and the teacher can manage the development of the training in a personalized way, watching the evolution of each student. In addition, the student can perform a visual inspection of the bead once the practice has been completed, evaluating the exercise based on the criteria set out in the visual inspection form included in the course.
Simulation for welding training is a proven solution that reduces costs for training centers, helps to attract young people to studies that are less attractive and improves the quality of training by preparing them to enter the labor market. We are living a technological revolution in the education sector, we must be able to adapt to these changes and take advantage of the opportunities and benefits brought by new technologies.
