This year, more than 750 exhibitors from 20 nations took part in Asia’s most important trade fair for joining, cutting and surfacing technologies. For the first time, the Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting moved to the region of Dongguan, famous for its exports to the rest of the world.
Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting was organised by Messe Essen, the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), the German Welding Society (DVS), the Welding Institution of CMES, the Chinese Welding Association (CWA) and the Welding Equipment Committee of CWA and took place from the 8th to the 11th May. It counted with numerous forums, that make it an important communication platform for the exchange knowledge and development of new commercial relations.
The range of equipment showed at this fair hint at the future of Industry 4.0, from systems for computer-assisted fabrication to the latest developments in safety equipment for workplaces. New technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics or Augmented Reality (AR) were present as main characters in the development of Industry 4.0.
The Soldamatic Augmented Training welding simulator was a part of the event, showing how AR can be applied to the training of welders. This technology reduces the costs and risks of new welder’s training and improves their qualification at the same time.
