Seabery Augmented Technology organized the 1st workshop on The Welding Training Modernization with AR in the Omani industry at the JW Marriot hotel in Muscat on 21st November. The event was attended by more than 50 people from important stakeholders such as the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Energy and Minerals, multiple colleges, universities, and polytechnics, leading industrial companies from the oil & gas sector like PDO or OQ, and even the Spanish Ambassador herself along with her team.
During the workshop, Basilio Marquinez, President of Seabery Augmented Technology, and Antonio Fernández, Director of AMEA Business Development, provided the most relevant global insights about how Augmented Reality technology is transforming the way to train welders globally. They highlighted that AR technology is already a standard in countries like the US, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, and has the potential to contribute to the development of the Omani economy, society, and industry.
The workshop included a live demonstration of the technology where the audience could experience the HyperReal-Sim simulation technologyof Soldamatic: the closest thing to real welding training. This was followed by an interactive session where the audience could try welding themselves and discuss about how it could be benefiting Oman.
The major oil-producing states of the Persian Gulf are now grappling with the fact that they must reshape their economies in light of the long-term global transition away from carbon-based sources of energy. Saudi Aramco, one of the world’s largest integrated energy and chemicals companies, is one of the key customers of Seabery Augmented Technology’s AR welding training technology, Soldamatic.
